Being a California native, my designs are often influenced by the immense diversity and visual cultures that I'm surrounded by. These three pieces are projects I did out of appreciation for distinctive local themes like sign-painting and ethnic typography. The first is a Japanese poster I created in response to an English poster by Mucho, a design studio in San Francisco. The second is a series of hand-lettered state initials that I rendered on the computer after painting them on a canvas. Finally, the last images are phone backgrounds I drew using Kendrick Lamar's hands for reference, since he's one of my favorite West Coast rappers.
